Artist's website: https://www.braunsteinguy.com/

Guy Braunstein was born in Tel Aviv in 1971 and studied in Israel and the US, where his teachers included Pinchas Zukerman. Following a successful early career as a chamber musician and soloist, he was appointed concertmaster of the Berliner Philharmoniker in 2000 following a unanimous election, despite having no orchestral experience; he held the position until 2013, when he left in order to resume his solo career.

In addition to his many recordings as leader of the Berliner Philharmoniker (including a notable solo appearance on Sir Simon Rattle’s recording of Strauss’s Ein Heldenleben in 2006), Braunstein’s discography includes Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy and Violin Concerto No. 1 with Ion Marin and the Bamberger Symphoniker on Tudor, the world premiere recording of works by Rolf Riehm with the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln on Wergo, and Tchaikovsky Treasures (including the Violin Concerto) with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Kirill Karabits on Pentatone.
